Haven't been on my own blog for a long time and it was a bit reckless to not control who posts on my blog. Not that I want selective people but at least not the ones advertising their pharmacies, etc.

So, I opened Chrome, searched "php Captcha" and went to the first link that showed up... http://www.phpcaptcha.org/>

Downloaded the package, unzipped and uploaded it on my server. Followed the quickstat guide and I had captcha on my website in a matter of 15-20 minutes!

Of course, there are other solutions to restrict who post to blogs, captcha is probably the most popular and enough for the intent.

I had actually thought, originally, that I will create my own captcha like this blog that I had started writing from scratch. But, then in favor of my new hobby--stocks and investments--I let go, code writing.

Hope to not see any more spam on my blog!!!

Haven't seen any more spams on the blog since I put the captcha.

Now, obviously this is not the only solution, but indeed an effective one. But, that's not what I am back to discuss.

I have seen a lot of websites having similar issues but they choose to ignore and spend time, handling the consequences rather than preventing the issue from cropping up.

CAPTCHA is also a good solution to prevent Account Harvesting / User Enumeration, and though it is so easy to implement, a lot of websites don't implement it.

Wake up people, protect the users on your website!
